This privacy policy document explains the way that personal data is collected, processed, protected or otherwise handled in our Software Application (App) empoind. We highly value your privacy and therefore want to be transparent on how we comply with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). In terms of concepts like „personal data“ or „processing“ we point you to the definitions in GDPR Article 4.

II. What information does empoind collect?
empoind helps you with ideation based on virtual Sticky Notes (with images, drawings, voice recordings etc.) you provide. We also collect and receive the following types of information:
Account information
empoind is a collaborative application that allows you to gather and present ideas together. Therefore you need to create an user account by providing your email address, a username and a password. You can optionally set your name and upload a profile image. If you create an account using your Google Apps credentials via single sign-on, we will have access to certain information such as your name and email address as authorized in your Google Apps profile settings.
Analytics data
We collect data on how people use empoind. From this analytics data we get insights that help us to continuously improve the user experience. For example, we are interested in knowing which features are used often and which are rarely used. We use aggregated statistics and do not track individuals.
We use Google Analytics. As part of this process we may record the following information for aggregate and anonymous reports:
- custom events (project creation, account creation, inviting other users, …)
- device information
- iOS version
- location information: the country you may reside in
Google is certified under the Privacy-Shield-Treatyand therefore guarantees conformity to the GDPR.
You can enable / disable transmission of analytics data through a switch in the App settings.
III. How do we share your information?
We are not in the business of selling or renting your information.
There are no third party services we share your data with.
IV. Where is my personal data stored?
The data you provide is stored on your devices (iPhone/iPad) and synced to servers maintained in the United States (USA). We do not operate these servers ourselves but based on our legitimate interest of providing services to you we use a Google Cloud service called Firebase for e.g. database, file storage, user management, analytics data etc.
We have signed a Data Processing Agreement based on GDPR Article 28.
V. How long do we store personal data?
Your personal data is stored as long as you operate your account.
You have full control over data, i.e. you can permanently delete content (e.g. workshops, images, voice recordings). You can also delete your account including all the personal information you may have provided (e.g. email, full name).
VI. What happens if I want to stop using empoind?
You have the “right to be forgotten” (GDPR Article 17). As described above you can delete your account at any time from within the App.
You also have the “right to transfer your data” (GDPR Article 20). You can easily export every workshop you wish from within the App creating a zip file that contains all files (images, voice recordings) and texts.
VII. Changes to this document
We may update the Privacy Policy from time to time. The links to this document from the App and the App Store will always point to the most up to date version.
